Spring is here!

Todays Run: 4.0 miles
Time: 36 mins

Spring is legit here. It was 73 degrees this afternoon in Milford. Nate is trying to ease back into running after injuring his foot last week, so we did a nice and easy four miles. I felt pretty good the whole time. We ran down by the beach, and so it was nice to get the cool breeze from the sound while we were running. Here's hoping Nate heals up and we are able to get back to training!

Tonight we made potatoes better than the chicken with sweet potatoes, and it might have been better than using regular potatoes. Since I was in class all evening, Nate was in charge of the cooking. The chicken came out perfect - I couldn't have done it better myself.

In other news, it's HUNGER GAMES WEEKEND on Saturday! I am SO EXCITED. CANNOT WAIT.

Cheers!

Back in the saddle

After taking a little more than a week off, I was able to ease through a 3 mile run yesterday.  My foot felt great but I didn't want to push it, I took it easy and ran about 2.5 miles, while Dana went off ahead and completed the 3 miles.  We ran an out and back so Dana was able to catch up with me at the end of the run.  I'm planning on taking it easy this week with 3-4 mile runs, working up to a long run next sunday.  May the odds be ever in my favor!!!

I wanted to post some pictures from the 25K.  The first picture is from the start, a bunch of other sharks members, you can barely see Dana, and I am hidden behind all the tall people.  Its funny how we are all starting our watches, we're all so reliant on our technology!
This second picture is us crossing the "finish line" at 15.5 miles.  I was very happy with our run and I felt fairly good the entire run.
I ended up hurting my foot at the gym during a 3 mile run and I'm going to take a few days off of running and let my body heal itself.  I shouldn't loose too much ground and I am keeping fit on the bike!

Long Run!

Today's Run: 15.5 miles
Time: 2 hours 20 mins

This was basically the longest run we have done since the beginning of September, and I must say, it went pretty well. I felt like the first ten miles FLEW by. The last 5.5 were a little rough, and my legs were fairly sore, but all in all, it was a really good run. We ran it with the running group that we joined, the Shoreline Sharks. It is so much easier to do a long run when your course is planned out, you know you have aid stations every 2-3 miles, and there's other people running along with you. I can definitely say that 15.5 miles was a whole lot more enjoyable than if Nate and I had just done it on Milford roads by ourselves. It also forced us to get up and get it out of the way early - the run started at 10 a.m, we were done by 12:30, and still had the rest of the day to get other things accomplished (namely eating and sitting around, though I did manage to start a paper that I have due this week). I am actually kinda, sorta looking forward to our run next Sunday (another awesome 16 miles)!

Last night, we made potatoes better than the chicken again (absolutely, without a doubt, one of my favorite meals, in the universe). We had it last night and again tonight for dinner, and now I am making homemade chicken stock with the leftover carcass. Roasted chicken is an awesome money saver...five dollars, two meals of roast chicken, and probably 2-3 meals of soup.

Cheers!
